Because some people have asked, I’m going to tell you how to sign up to Amazon.
If you visit the Amazon website ( Amazon.com , Amazon.ca , etc. ) and you look in the top-right corner of the webpage, you should see a shopping cart and, to the left of that shopping cart, ‘Hello Sign in. Your Account’.
If you hover your mouse pointer over ‘Hello, Sign In. Your Account’, a drop-down menu should appear. Two of the options in that drop-down menu should be ‘Sign In’ and ‘Create an Account’ (or ‘New Customer? Start Here’). Click ‘Create an Account’ or ‘Start Here’ if you don’t already have an account. After you click that, you should be taken to the Amazon account sign-up page.
The Amazon sign-up page should ask you to enter your Amazon Account Name, your E-mail Address, your Password, and your Password again (to confirm your password). The password that Amazon asks you to enter has NOTHING to do with your e-mail account.
Amazon asks you to enter your e-mail address so that they can contact you. Do not enter your e-mail account’s password on the Amazon sign-up page: You should make a new password for Amazon because the password that you enter on that screen will only be used by Amazon to allow you to log into Amazon.
After you have entered that information and you have clicked ‘Create your Amazon account,’ Amazon will probably send you an e-mail. In that e-mail, Amazon will probably ask you to click on a link in that e-mail to verify your account.
If you want to buy things on Amazon, you will likely need to enter your credit card information into your Amazon account. If you want to download a free ebook… I don’t know whether you would need to enter your credit card information. If you want to sign out of Amazon, hover your mouse over ‘Your Account’ (which is in the top-right area of Amazon’s webpage, to the left of the shopping cart) and a drop-down menu should appear. ‘Sign Out’ should be at the bottom of that menu.
If you want to read ebooks from Amazon, you will need either a Kindle device or a Kindle reader of some kind. Amazon has an online reader, which you can read your Amazon books through if you’re signed into the Amazon website that you created your account on.
If you want to download and install a Kindle reader on your computer, you can get a download link here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/fiona/kcp-landing-page
But if you want to read Kindle books that you’ve downloaded from Amazon, you’ll have to sign into the Kindle reader (using your Amazon login information) that you installed on your computer so that the Kindle reader can be synced to your Amazon account. Signing into a Kindle reader is called ‘Registering’ the Kindle reader. When you open the Kindle reader that you install on your computer, it should ask you for your ‘registration’ information if that Kindle reader is not already linked to an Amazon account.
If you want to download a book from an Amazon website, sign into Amazon and visit the book’s Amazon page. On the right side of the book’s Amazon page, it should ask you where you want the file to be delivered to (to your Kindle Cloud Reader or to one of the Kindle readers that you have registered to your account) and there will be a ‘Buy now’ button. (You download free ebooks by clicking the ‘Buy’ button.)
